On Saturday, the U21 Lilies were guests of last season’s third-place team. However, KSV Baunatal started the new season without anything to count and was willing to score points against the Darmstadt team. In the first half, however, the U21s had a few chances against strong opponents, but they remained unused. The Junglilien showed a solid performance not only on offense but also on defense and went into the break with a score of 0-0.
In the second 45 minutes the game was evenly balanced between both teams. “The Baunatal team came out of the locker room with more pressure and were repeatedly dangerous beyond standards. “But we defended it well,” analysed Petrowsky. His team was able to create chances in the second half of the game, but no goal was scored. Especially in terms of efficiency in front of the opponent’s box in the coming weeks.
„Nevertheless, we played 0-0 against a seasoned team. That’s a good result for us. It’s now about building on this performance and getting even better step by step,“ continued the Lilien U21 head coach.
The next kick-off in the Hessenliga for the U21s of SV Darmstadt 98 will be against Hanauer FC next Sunday (August 11th). Then the Lilies will compete again in front of their home crowd on the lawn of the FC Alsbach sports field. Kick-off is at 3pm.
