Florian Kohfeldt:

“Congratulations to Lukas and SC Paderborn on the three points – combined with best wishes for a speedy recovery to Felix Platte. It was a game in which both teams defended well for over 90 minutes. The positive thing is that we hardly allowed anything to come out of the game. Nevertheless, we had our problems against the ball, especially with set pieces. Unfortunately, we weren’t successful offensively ourselves. An important realisation today is one that has become apparent over the last few weeks: If we have time in the game to make our own decisions, we stay in possession of the ball for too long and therefore do not become dangerous. In addition, we didn’t manage to turn the game around using set pieces. We have to develop further and manage to create more tempo actions in games like this. The team that was more ripped off and had better set pieces won today.”

Lukas Kwasniok:

“Over the 90 minutes we don’t have to be ashamed of the three points. From the first minute we had good control of the game. We won the ball well, but we were still lacking a bit of luck at the start of the game. However, the team did not allow themselves to be deterred. After a corner we make it 1-0. Overall, both teams had problems stressing their opponents in the final third of the game. In my opinion, the half-time lead was deserved because we didn’t allow any action from the Darmstadt team. Even in the second half I didn’t have the feeling that one scoring opportunity was chasing the next. That’s why we kept our style of play with more players in our last defensive line and a more compact block in the second half. Today we had the luck of the brave on our side. Accordingly, we will go home happy.”

Marcel Schuhen:

„Today we played against a really good opponent who covered a lot of kilometers. That was noticeable on the field, we had to put in a lot of effort to get into the opponent’s box. We lacked the right idea one or two times , the line-up in the box wasn’t optimal at times and we weren’t really dangerous. There were games like that today that were decided by a set piece, but we still defended well for the most part. Though, one of them we did not and that decided this game.“

Kai Klefisch:

„It was the expected difficult game against a very good opponent. We were well prepared, but we didn’t manage to play our game, especially in the first half. And after winning the ball, we didn’t play forward consistently enough. Overall, there were problems on both sides We didn’t really have any great chances, it was more of a 0-0 game. Unfortunately, the game was decided by a set piece. The goal was too easy, we have to take responsibility for that. However, there is also little forward-thinking. After the break we managed to push the opponent into our own half, but we didn’t manage to get dangerously into the final level. We have to keep working on creating chances against such a bulwark.“
