„We are happy with how SV 98 has anchored women’s and girls‘ football regionally.“
SV 98 also used the day of action in support of the DFB's bid for the Women's EURO 2029 to highlight its cooperation with DJK/SSG Darmstadt in the area of women's and girls' football, which has been in place for almost two and a half years. As the two teams entered the pitch on Saturday evening, a delegation of players from the partner club presented a banner for the DFB bid. Prior to the match, Thilo Albrecht, chairman of DJK/SSG Darmstadt, had given an interview on the stadium's TV channel.
Albrecht: “It has been a very successful period so far; we have initiated many projects together. For example, the camps and the talent days, where coaches from the Darmstadt 98 youth academy train our girls. These events are not only extremely well-attended, but we have also gained many new active players through Darmstadt 98. There are various ways to strengthen girls‘ and women’s football in Germany: As chairman of DJK/SSG Darmstadt, I am very pleased with the path Darmstadt 98 has chosen to establish women’s and girls‘ football regionally. As a partner club, we are delighted by Darmstadt 98’s commitment to grassroots sports.”
The partnership includes close collaboration between Darmstadt 98’s youth academy and DJK/SSG Darmstadt, as well as the support and development of coaches and players to further promote women’s and girls‘ football in Darmstadt in the future.
