A few months ago, SV Darmstadt 98 announced that a “nostalgia corner” would be created between the main and north stands in the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor. Work on this area will begin at the end of July and will last around four months. In the area directly next to one of the time-honored floodlight masts, old steps and breakwaters will be integrated so that a piece of “old Bölle” can still be experienced. The “Dugena Clock” will also be located in the stadium area in the future.
This was preceded by extensive planning work over the past few months. Among other things, static tests had to be carried out and the condition of the ground examined. A solution was also found for the Dugena clock, which had not been functional for a long time: engineers from Makerspace Darmstadt e.V., through the intervention of our council of elders, have already inspected the clock and want to repair it again. The clock has already been dismantled and is currently behind the counter stand for further work.
Once the renovation work has been completed, the corner will offer standing room for around 25 people. These can be booked by fan groups, members and business partners in a package with space and meals on a match-day basis. The grandstand area does not yet have a final name: For this purpose, the fan advisory board was involved, which will draft proposals that the SV98 members will then vote on.
