“Your work for our sports club is worthy of all honour”
People with blue and white passion gather here, they all stand for club loyalty. She also has a great deal of passion and great commitment to SV Darmstadt 98. And all of this for years, even decades. The evening of honour in the main stand in the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor belonged to exactly these people: On Wednesday (October 2nd), the Lilien once again invited people to the evening of honor to thank all the volunteers and honor long-standing members.
Volunteering is everywhere, writes the Federal Ministry of the Interior on its website. Around 29 million people do voluntary work in Germany. Those involved take responsibility and advance what is important to them. This is exactly how it is at SV Darmstadt 98, where volunteering is still an important part of the SV 98’s DNA.
Thank you for your phenomenal commitment!
“We as a club want to say thank you on this evening of honour,” explained Rüdiger Fritsch, President of the SVD, in his welcoming speech: “The strength of a club is usually measured by numbers. But you are proof that the strength of a club consists primarily of the club culture and cooperation.” Although SV Darmstadt 98 has become more and more professional over the years and has become a professional club with a professional structure, we still support, over a hundred people volunteer at the Lilien in a wide variety of areas. They bring in enormous passion and play a significant role in shaping the club life of SV 98. “Your work for our sports club is worthy of all honour. Thank you for your phenomenal commitment,” continued Fritsch.
Following the president’s introductory words, Roy Reinelt-Peter, chairman of the fan and support department of SV Darmstadt 98, addressed those present. “You are all a supporting pillar at SV 98,” he also paid tribute to all long-standing members and volunteers.
What followed was a delicious dinner together. Fritsch then asked the captain of the Lilies, Fabian Holland, to come forward. The injured captain of SV 98 had long since mingled with the members and was available for stimulating conversations as well as requests for photos and autographs. Together, Fritsch and Holland honored long-standing members and thanked them for their remarkable loyalty to the club. On this evening of honour, Lilien members were honoured for 25, 40, 50, 60 and even 70 years of membership.
But that’s not all: everyone present ended this special evening together at bingo – Holland acted as the draw master – in a sociable and cheerful atmosphere. SV Darmstadt 98 would like to thank everyone present for this successful and wonderful evening of honour.
