The 5 pillars of the first half of the season

Florian Kohfeldt's summary of the first half of the season began with a look back at September of last year. At that time, the now 43-year-old had taken over as head coach of SV 98 and, particularly in the first few weeks, perceived a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the Böllenfalltor stadium. "Back then, you could feel a great fear of being relegated to the 3rd division. That was true within the team as well. We went to games with the goal of not losing. And that's the wrong approach in sports."

Analysis: Two contrasting halves

Darmstadt 98 finished an impressive first half of the season with a 2-2 draw at SC Paderborn. This result leaves them in third place in the table going into the winter break. After a convincing first half, Florian Kohfeldt's team even came close to securing an away win, but the hosts deservedly earned the point after the break. In our analysis, we look at the two contrasting halves and also draw a brief conclusion about the first half of the season.

„A draw is acceptable.“

A fair draw after two contrasting halves: SV 98 dominated the first half and deservedly led through goals from Richter and Corredor. However, the second half saw SC Paderborn clearly swing the pendulum in their favour, ultimately equalising with a penalty. How do the players view this final match of the year, and what does head coach Florian Kohfeldt have to say about the encounter? We've compiled all the reactions for you.

Points Shared in Paderborn

Darmstadt 98 and SC Paderborn drew 2-2 (0-2) away from home on matchday 17, heading into the winter break with a point away from home. Richter and Corredor scored for Darmstadt in the first half. The team from southern Hesse has thus amassed a strong 33 points at the halfway point of the season.

Holland replaces Papela

The 2025 football season for SV 98 Darmstadt 98 concludes with their away match in Paderborn. Florian Kohfeldt has made one change to his starting eleven: Fabian Holland replaces Merveille Papela. Fabian Nürnberger (recovering from knee problems) and Fraser Hornby (recovering from a thigh muscle injury) are back in the squad, but will initially start on the bench.
