Defensive midfielder Paul Will is now a Lily! On Monday afternoon (May 27th), SV 98 announced the reinforcements: The native of Central Hesse, who is moving from SG Dynamo Dresden to Darmstadt, comes to the Bölle with the experience of 120 third division games and 23 second division games and was previously vice-captain for Dresden. We accompanied the new signing on his first day and also conducted a first interview with the left-footed player. The 25-year-old is moving from SG Dynamo Dresden to southern Hesse on a free transfer. And we accompanied the six when it arrived in Darmstadt. With Paul, the SVD has not only been able to gain a player with second and third division experience, but also someone who once played with the greats of football. “You get the winning gene planted there,” reports Will from his time at FC Bayern Munich. A starting field that is impressive. The list of participants for the 2024/25 second division season is complete. And now there is the first anticipation of the upcoming away trips. With Regensburg the last second division team has been determined. SSV Jahn was able to prevail in the relegation against Wehen Wiesbaden and finally completed the field of participants in the 2nd Bundesliga on Tuesday evening (May 28th), after Fortuna Düsseldorf had already lost on Monday (May 27th) due to the defeat in the relegation against VfL Bochum remained in the second division. The new season starts on August 2nd, from then on all 18 teams will go hunting again. Between August 16th and 19th, SV 98 will play in the first cup main round. The first international break takes place on the weekend of September 6th to 8th.

Now the Zwote has also made it: summer break for the SV 98 fan team! On Tuesday evening (May 28th) there was the last game of the season for coach Andreas Degenhardt’s team, the Lilies met the second representative of FC Ober-Ramstadt. Although the SVD said goodbye to the season with a 2:4 defeat, they still had a good result in the table with third place. “I’m definitely happy with where we are in the table, but the boys are their own biggest critics and know where we may have left points behind,” said Degenhardt after the game. On Sunday (May 26th) the result looked even better: the Darmstadt team won 2-0 at TuS Griesheim. Now it’s time for the summer break before there are one or two highlights for the second team in preparation – among other things, the Lilies are playing a test match in the adjacent university stadium.
+++ DFB Cup draw on Saturday +++
The DFB Cup winner for the 2023/24 season, Bayer Leverkusen, has barely been crowned when the new cup season is just around the corner. Next Saturday (June 1st/6pm) the first round of the DFB Cup will be drawn at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. You can follow the draw live on ARD, with Nils Petersen acting as the “raffle fairy”. The Lilies are drawn from draw pot two (the so-called “professional pot”) and therefore definitely have an away game in the first round.
Fan information for the Münster game
The second consecutive away game, and the last of the season, is upon us. Once again on a Sunday (May 10th, 1:30pm), Darmstadt will be playing away – this time against SC Preußen Münster. Everything you need to know for your final away trip of the season to the LVM-Preußenstadion, about three and a half hours away, can be found here in the usual fan information section.

Merck Autograph Session: With Pfeiffer, Klefisch and Lakenmacher
Autographs, photos, and personal encounters with the Lilies: You'll have the opportunity to do so on Thursday (May 7th) from 5pm to 6pm. As part of an autograph session presented by Merck, Patric Pfeiffer, Kai Klefisch, and Fynn Lakenmacher will be at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor. You'll also receive a ten percent discount in the fan shop during this time.
Disappointment & pride
Darmstadt's 2-1 defeat at Karlsruher SC also ended any remaining theoretical hopes the South Hessian club had of finishing the season in the top three. The loss at the Wildpark stadium served somewhat as a symbol for the past few weeks, during which SV 98 had only managed one point from five matches since the international break in March. Following the game on Sunday afternoon, the Darmstadt players addressed the assembled media representatives with mixed feelings.
Merx hat trick: U21 deservedly wins at Hünfelder SV
Three points! SV Darmstadt 98's U21 team secured a victory in the Lotto Hessenliga on Saturday afternoon (May 2nd). In their match against Hünfelder SV, the young Lilies overcame an early deficit to clinch a convincing 3-1 win. This result puts the U21 team currently outside the relegation zone. "Our trend is clearly upward," said a delighted U21 coach Sebastian Schmitt.
HBRS and SV 98: Cooperation extended indefinitely
The successful collaboration between the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (HBRS) and SV Darmstadt 98 will continue long-term: Both partners have extended their existing agreement to promote inclusive sports indefinitely. This sends a clear signal for the sustainable development of inclusion and disability sports in Hesse.

A bitter end in Karlsruhe: After 90 entertaining minutes in which both teams sought salvation in attack, Darmstadt suffered a narrow defeat. The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. After the match, the players were particularly frustrated with the missed opportunities in the first half.
Lilies lose in Karlsruhe
The away form continues to be poor: SV 98 suffered a 2-1 (0-0) defeat against Karlsruher SC. Lidberg scored the equaliser for the team from southern Hesse in the 70th minute.
Team News: Five Changes in the Team
Darmstadt 98 visit Karlsruher SC on matchday 32 (May 3rd, 1:30 PM). Florian Kohfeldt has made five changes to his starting lineup. Killian Corredor replaces the injured Fraser Hornby, Aleksandar Vukotic comes in for the suspended Patric Pfeiffer, and Fabian Holland starts in place of Matej Maglica, who is sidelined with an ankle injury. Merveille Papela and Niklas Schmidt also join the team, replacing Sergio Lopez and Yosuke Furukawa. In addition to Hornby, Pfeiffer, and Maglica, Darmstadt will also be without the injured Matthias Bader, Fabian Nürnberger, and Luca Marseiler.
