It was a pleasure, San Antonio!
The Lilien will be in San Antonio from September 25th to October 1st. In this USA diary, we will keep you updated on the trip and SV 98's experiences.
On Monday (September 28th), SV Darmstadt 98 hosted the LOTTO Hessen Fair Play Award ceremony at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor for the first time. During the event, long-time captain Aytaç Sulu was named a Fair Play Ambassador.
Around 110 guests gathered at the Böllenfalltor stadium to witness the honoring of individuals, teams, and clubs that have shown exceptional commitment to fairness, diversity, and a strong sense of community within football.
During the event, former Lilien player Aytaç Sulu was named a Fair Play Ambassador. „For me, fair play begins with respect—towards opponents, referees, teammates, and everyone involved in football. It is an attitude that shouldn’t just be displayed on the pitch. That is why I am delighted to carry this message forward as a Fair Play Ambassador,“ said Sulu regarding the honour. Through this mindset, he supports the values that SV Darmstadt 98 stands for.
These values include child protection, inclusion, integration, and sustainability, among others. The Lilien not only embed these topics in their mission statement but also actively work to bring them to life in the club’s day-to-day operations. These values are embraced and put into practice through various projects, initiatives, and partnerships.
Michael Weilguny, Managing Director of SV Darmstadt, was also visibly pleased with the event: „The Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor stands for emotion, community, and football. It is therefore a perfect fit that people who champion fairness and social cohesion are being honored here. We are very happy to have hosted this special event.“
You can find further information about the event, the award recipients, and the topic of fair play on the LOTTO Hessenliga website.
