This weekend, it's not just the SV Darmstadt 98 pros who are back in action; the U21 team also kicks off its LOTTO Hessenliga campaign on Saturday (August 2nd at 3pm). First defeat of the preseason. The Lilies lost their dress rehearsal at TSG Hoffenheim 5-1. The game lasted 120 minutes, and after 90 minutes, the scoreboard showed a score of 3-1. Yousuke Furukawa scored for SV 98.
Marcel Schuhen will assume the captaincy of SV 98. The 32-year-old has been appointed captain by head coach Florian Kohfeldt. The goalkeeper will also serve on the team council alongside Fraser Hornby (vice-captain), Fabian Holland, Kai Klefisch, Fabian Nürnberger and Aleksandar Vukotic.
In January of this year, SV Darmstadt 98 organised a memorial walk through Darmstadt to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Now the Lilies plan to hold a similar walk again on August 20th. This occasion will focus on remembering the victims of National Socialism. The memorial walk will begin at Schlossgartenplatz in Darmstadt and end at Dr.-Karl-Heß-Platz in front of the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor.
On Wednesday (July 23rd), the official season opening took place at the Merck Stadium in the form of a large fan festival. Around 3,500 Lilien fans made the pilgrimage to the Böllenfalltor to get ready for the upcoming season with the team. In addition to a training session for the professionals, numerous promotional booths, a members' match on the pitch, and an autograph session in the stadium perimeter provided entertainment. We look back on a truly atmospheric day.
SV Darmstadt 98 is entering the new second division season with an ambitious vision: The club's membership is set to increase to 18,980, reflecting the year of its founding. Therefore, SV 98 is calling on all fans and supporters to become part of the Lilien family. The sports club currently has around 15,500 members. The membership campaign was launched at the season opening celebration on Wednesday (July 23rd).
From July 20th to 22nd, the SV Darmstadt 98 U19 team held their training camp at the Edelfinger Hof Hotel in the Tauber Valley. Over three intensive days, coach Patrick Kurt's team prepared for the upcoming season in the U19 DFB Youth League.
Following the successful presentation of the home jersey for the 2025/26 season, SV Darmstadt 98’s away jersey has now also been unveiled. The Lilies will be wearing classic white on the road in the new season. In addition to the artistic embossing, already familiar from the home jersey, the embroidered and complete club crest on the chest stands out as a special detail. At the same time, the season opening at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor is getting closer and closer. Visitors can look forward to numerous promotional stands, culinary highlights, and, as a special event, a match between two member teams on Wednesday afternoon (July 23rd), whose teams will be drawn in advance.
