Dominant young Lilies celebrate a commanding home victory

The SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team celebrated a commanding 3-0 home victory against VfB Marburg last Saturday (October 24th). From the outset, the young Lilies dominated the game and gave the visitors little room to maneuver.

A brilliant start

Darmstadt took control early and put VfB Marburg under pressure with aggressive, high pressing. This allowed Darmstadt to repeatedly win back possession. As early as the sixth minute, Luca Carolei capitalised on a misunderstanding in the Marburg defence to give his team an early lead. Vincent Hofer increased the lead to 2-0 shortly afterward, before scoring his second goal just before halftime to make it 3-0. With a convincing first half performance behind them, Patrick Kurt’s team went into the dressing room satisfied.

Darmstadt remains in control

Even after the break, the hosts remained dominant and continued to control the game. Although the visitors managed to prevent further goals from the home side, this did nothing to change the fact that the young Lilies secured a well-deserved victory.

For coach Patrick Kurt, the win was a successful response to the performance in Hanau: „That was the desired reaction after the subdued showing in Hanau. The first 20 minutes, in particular, were very dominant and showed us what the team is capable of playing well. Now, of course, we definitely want to build on this performance in Fernwald.“

Table situation and outlook

With the home win, the Young Lilies improved to sixth place in the Lotto Hessenliga standings and now have 24 points. After their defeat against Hanau, the U21 team has thus returned to winning ways.

Next Saturday (October 31st), Patrick Kurt’s team faces its next challenge. Darmstadt will travel to FSV Fernwald and aim to build on their convincing performance against Marburg.

Line-Up: Börner – Meier, Dos Santos Pereira (Urbich, 77′), Hofer (Volkmann, 59′), Held (Mirua, 77′), Carolei (Makawaya, 63′), Dreskovic, Stark (Keranovic, 81′), Hartelt, Pfister, Herbst
