A special place of remembrance for one of the most famous Darmstadt fans. Before SV Darmstadt 98's home game against Hannover 96 on Sunday (August 30th), Jonathan Heimes Square at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor will be officially opened.
The newly designed main stand forecourt will henceforth bear the name of the fan who died of cancer around ten years ago, whose motto „You have to fight“ is still inextricably linked with the Lilies.
The official opening will take place at 12:15 pm in the form of two short speeches by President Markus Pfitzner and by Martin Heimes, father of Jonathan.
The idea originated in the spring from a fan initiative, and the concept itself was developed in consultation with SV 98 and the Heimes family. With this project, the club is creating a central memorial and meeting place for the deceased supporter. The south stand will therefore revert to its original name.
