Markus Pfitzner: „Fabian Holland has played a decisive role in shaping the history of the ‚Lilien‘ [the Lilies] over the past twelve years and has contributed significantly to the club’s successes during this period. In particular, the promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2022/23 season—with him serving as team captain—is closely linked to his name. Fabi took on responsibility as captain for a total of six and a half years, and, not least as a club member, he remains deeply connected to our organisation. By naming him an honorary captain, we are recognising his achievements and this special bond.“
Fabian Holland: „Being named an honorary captain is a truly special honour, for which I am very grateful. To become a small footnote in the extensive history of this storied club fills me with great pride. During my twelve years with the Lilien, SV 98 has become a club that is truly close to my heart, and Darmstadt has become a second home for me and my family. Having the opportunity to continue representing the Lilien and our club’s values—now as an honorary captain—means an incredible amount to me and makes this special connection even stronger.“
Fabian Holland wore the Lilie on his chest from the 2014/15 season until last summer. Initially arriving on loan from Hertha BSC, he signed a permanent contract with SV 98 in 2015. Over his twelve years with the club, Holland made 319 competitive appearances, celebrated two promotions to the Bundesliga, and helped the team secure its place in the top flight in 2016. From January 2019 until July 2025, the Berlin native led the team onto the pitch as captain.
