Heavy defeat against KSC
SV Darmstadt 98 suffered a clear 4-0 (2-0) defeat in Karlsruhe. As a result, the Lilies are still waiting for their first away point of the season.
The Lilies got off to a disastrous start in their away match against Karlsruher SC, falling behind by two goals early on following strikes from Fukuda in the 6th minute and Wanitzek added a second on 13 minutes. In the 18th minute, Darmstadt had their first real chance to narrow the deficit, but William Mikelbrencis’s attempt from a tight angle struck the post. A minute later, Hojae Lee found himself in a promising position, only to send his shot well over the crossbar.
For the remainder of the first half, the South Hessian side struggled to create meaningful opportunities in the opposition’s half. The hosts, meanwhile, remained a constant threat through long balls, though neither side managed any further significant attempts on goal.
The teams headed into the halftime break with the hosts holding a two-goal lead.
KSC also made the stronger start to the second half, with Kobald extending the lead to 3–0 in the 50th minute when he headed home. Six minutes later, following a long ball from Patric Pfeiffer, Milan Smit had a golden opportunity to pull one back, but he lifted his effort wide of the goal.
The 98ers lacked the necessary precision in their attacking play, rarely posing a serious threat. At the other end, almost everything went the hosts‘ way; Wiethaup made it 4–0, his shot finding the net via the inside of the post on 65 minutes..
Four minutes before the final whistle, substitute Ibrahim El Kadiri tested KSC goalkeeper Bernat, but the ‚keeper managed to keep the ball out, sealing a 4–0 victory for the hosts.
