Still undefeated
The SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team drew 2-2 (0-1) against SV Unter-Flockenbach. After a heated home game, the young Lilies had to settle for a frustrating, but ultimately deserved, draw. In this extremely balanced league, Patrick Kurt's team continues to grow week by week, gaining valuable experience.
Early penalty
In the first half, Unter-Flockenbach dominated possession and took the lead in the 14th minute with a penalty. Even after the goal, the newly promoted Odenwald side remained dangerous and created further good opportunities, but failed to capitalise. This allowed the Lilies to gradually find their footing, gain more possession, and launch their first promising attacks. However, both teams lacked the necessary clinical finishing in the final third until halftime, and the hosts maintained their narrow lead.
Late shock
As has often been the case this season, SV Darmstadt 98 came out of halftime much stronger. Just a few minutes after the restart, the ball was in the net for what appeared to be the equaliser, but the linesman had already raised his flag. In the 56th minute, the equaliser finally came: Tom Steineck made it 1-1 for Darmstadt. Less than ten minutes later, Darmstadt 98 completely turned the game around. After a corner, Vincent Hofer was perfectly positioned and put his team ahead 2-1 in the 64th minute. Darmstadt continued to create promising attacking opportunities, but often lacked precision with the final pass.
As the game wore on, Unter-Flockenbach also became more dangerous going forward. In a heated final phase, both teams threw everything they had into the match. Deep into stoppage time, the team from the Odenwald region finally managed to equalise, so the two teams ultimately shared the points.
Head coach Patrick Kurt on the team’s progress: „This game will help us tremendously in our development. I am proud of this young team and how they have dealt with all the obstacles – on and off the field.“
