3060 minutes played | Club birthday with you
After 34 matchdays, the season came to an end last Sunday. Marcel Schuhen finally got a break, having played every single minute of the entire campaign. But unlike the professionals, the young Lilies can't rest just yet. There's still plenty to do for the reserve team. And there's also a lot going on off the pitch. We'll keep you updated here in "Lilies Across the Board" with all the latest news.
+++ Long-running hit +++
3,060 minutes. That’s two days and three hours. And that’s precisely the amount of time Marcel Schuhen spent on the pitch for Darmstadt 98 in the recently concluded second division season. Keen-eyed calculators will have noticed: 3,060 minutes means that the captain of SV 98 was between the posts in every single one of the 34 matches and didn’t miss a single minute. Besides the Darmstadt captain, only six other professionals reached this incredible mark: Seimen (SC Paderborn), Kristof (SV Elversberg), Noll (H96 Hannover), Wanitzek (Karlsruher SC), Reimann (FC Magdeburg), and Horn (VfL Bochum). But Schuhen doesn’t just shine in this statistic; with ten clean sheets, he’s one of only five goalkeepers in the entire league to have kept a clean sheet in double digits. Congratulations, Schuhen!

+++ Young Lilies season nearing its end +++
In their penultimate match of the season, the SV Darmstadt 98 U19 team suffered a crushing 8-0 defeat against MSV Duisburg on Sunday (May 17). They will have a chance for a more positive end to the season on Saturday (May 23, 1pm) away at SC Fortuna Köln. The goal will be clear: to finish the season with a win!
It was a close call. On Saturday (May 16), the SV Darmstadt 98 U17 team played their final match of the DFB U17 Youth League. They narrowly lost 2-1 away to FC Memmingen. Even though the regular season is over and they finished in a solid fourth place in their League B group, the next match is already on the horizon. The young Lilies will have the opportunity to test themselves in a friendly against Germany’s U16 national team next Tuesday (May 26, 4pm) in Frankfurt.
+++ "Second Second Team" makes it even more exciting +++
The fight to avoid relegation is intensifying. After the SV Darmstadt 98 fan team’s defeat on Sunday (May 17th) against bottom-of-the-table SKV Hähnlein, the second team finds itself once again in the relegation zone. A quickfire double for Hähnlein sealed the fan team’s fate – the visitors found the net in the 53rd and 55th minutes, and the second team’s resurgence was only rewarded with a consolation goal in the 75th minute. The final score was 2-1. The fan team is now only three points away from the relegation zone, but nothing is decided yet. With two matchdays remaining, seven teams are still vying for survival. Next up is another match this Thursday (May 21st, 7:30pm) against TSV Braunshardt, where the second team could secure some crucial points. Good luck!
+++ How are things going in San Antonio? +++
Onwards and upwards! While the German clubs have entered their summer break and deservedly put the ball to rest, the USL Championship is still in full swing. This is also true in San Antonio. After a weekend off, SAFC resumes play this coming Saturday (May 23rd, 2:30am German time) at home in Toyota Field, hosting Sacramento Republic FC. The Darmstadt 98 affiliate will be looking to defend their top spot in the standings and finally secure a win after two recent draws. Good luck from Darmstadt!
