The SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team won 3-1 (0-0) against SV Rot-Weiss Walldorf. In a heated match, Patrick Kurt's team prevailed and remain undefeated at home.
Under the floodlights, the expected intense derby unfolded from the outset. After their lackluster performance against Türk Gücü Friedberg, the young Lilies were clearly eager to make amends and brought plenty of energy and intensity to the pitch from the very beginning. The opening phase was correspondingly hard-fought, with both teams battling fiercely in midfield and clear-cut chances initially scarce.
As the game progressed, Darmstadt gained more control of the field and frequently pushed the action into the visitors‘ half. However, against a compact Walldorf defence, they lacked the necessary clinical finishing in the final third to convert their growing dominance into clear scoring opportunities. Thus, despite a committed and overall improved performance from the young Lilies, the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
After the break, the Darmstadt youngsters gained more confidence in possession and began creating more dangerous chances in front of the Walldorf goal. The opening goal came after winning the ball in midfield: Vincent Hofer squared the ball to Henry Held, who slotted it home from around 11 metres to make it 1-0 (47′).
The duo were also instrumental in the second goal. After a through ball, Hofer was fouled in the penalty area, but he kept his footing and managed to get the ball to Held. The striker collected the pass and curled a beautiful left-footed shot into the far corner to make it 2-0 (61′).
The game became increasingly physical. Walldorf pulled one back from the penalty spot, and Tom Steineck received a second yellow card for a foul, meaning Darmstadt had to play the final stages with ten men.
However, the Darmstadt youngsters remained composed and launched a decisive counter-attack shortly before the final whistle. Kelvin Kunstmann broke through on the right side and set up Diogo dos Santos Pereira, who completed the attack to make it 3-1 (84th minute).
The home win against Walldorf brings another three points in the Hessenliga. With 15 points, Darmstadt currently sit in sixth place. On Saturday (September 12th, 3pm), FC Turabdin-Babylon will visit Kastanienallee. The visitors have collected 14 points so far and are in eighth place.

On Thursday (September 10), the Bundesliga finalised the exact scheduling for Matchdays 7 through 13. For Matchday 7, we host Energie Cottbus on a Saturday. A week later, we travel on a Sunday to face Karlsruher SC at the Wildpark, before welcoming FC St. Pauli to the Böllenfalltor for a Friday evening match under the floodlights on Matchday 9. The following two matchdays—at home against Magdeburg and away in Nürnberg—are both scheduled for Saturdays. Matchdays 12 and 13 will subsequently take place on Friday evenings.
A familiar face is returning to SV 98: The "Lilies" have signed Marco Richter. The 28-year-old previously played for the South Hessian club on loan last season. Richter had agreed to the termination of his contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 on September 1st, making it possible to sign the attacking midfielder even after the transfer window had closed.
