In keeping with tradition, the local heritage association presents this honour to individuals who have made significant contributions to Darmstadt. As a recipient, Baumann joins a distinguished list of honourees and is now entitled to call herself an official „Bekennende Heinerin“ (Committed Heiner) for life.
In the official citation for the award, Heinerfest President Felix Hotz described Baumann as an „ambassador for Darmstadt“ and explained that a representative from the sports world had been deliberately chosen for this year’s honour: „In recent times, the ‚Committed Heiners‘ have mostly come from the cultural sector. Yet sports and their clubs have always been a vital part of the Heinerfest and this city—just as SV 98 stands firmly by the Heinerfest’s side and remains loyal to us.“
Baumann has served on the SV 98 executive board since 2008 and maintains close ties not only to the „Lilies“ but also to the Heinerfest. SV 98’s finance chief is delighted with the new honorary title, stating: „I felt a mix of disbelief and joy when I learned about the award. It means a great deal to me to be seen as an ambassador for my hometown and to receive this honour at the festival I have attended since childhood. Of course, it is also gratifying that my years of work for the Lilies played a part in my selection.“
