At the start of the new season: Lakenmacher strikes for the Lilies

The first new signing for the 2024/25 season has been confirmed: Fynn Lakenmacher will join the Lilies on a free transfer. The 23-year-old striker, who currently plays for TSV 1860 Munich, has signed a contract with SV 98 until June 2027.

Paul Fernie: „Fynn is a robust number nine in terms of playing style, who seeks physical contact and can also secure balls. He also shows variability with clever movements behind the chain – a component that will also be important for our game. Fynn is hungry and ready to prove himself at the next level and we have exactly the right environment for him to develop to the best of his ability.“

Torsten Lieberknecht: „Fynn is a striker who works hard for his team, is physically very present and capable of development. In personal conversations, he also made a totally tidy and inquisitive impression. We hope that he will quickly get used to the higher league and thus takes the next step in its development.“

Fynn Lakenmacher: „I had very good discussions with those responsible, especially with the coach. I was also impressed by the great conditions, and at the same time everything here in Darmstadt seems very authentic. In addition, Darmstadt 98 is a traditional club whose home games are always sold out. I’m currently concentrating on continuing to give 1860 full throttle, but starting in the summer I’m looking forward to the exciting challenge in a league that’s new to me.“

Lakenmacher was trained at Hannover 96 and TSV Havelse, for whom he also played for a total of three years in the men’s division. In 2022 he moved to TSV 1860 Munich, where he was able to establish himself as a regular player straight away. Lakenmacher played a total of 101 third division games (17 goals and 6 assists) for Havelse and TSV 1860. The professional, who comes from Lübbecke in North Rhine-Westphalia, also played in the DFB Cup for both clubs.

What has to happen for one of the largest Spanish daily newspapers to print the following sentence? “Wolfsburg in the style of Real Madrid!” That was the headline in the newspaper “El Mundo” during the 2014/15 season. VfL had just spectacularly defeated FC Bayern Munich 4-1. “Suddenly Wolfsburg appeared and messed up Bayern’s film,” the Spanish reporters continued in their text. The Lower Saxony team were currently Bayern's number one hunters – well on the way to perhaps even becoming FCB's worst competitor?
