Clear victory at the training camp

A successful conclusion to the training camp in Bad Wörishofen: SV Darmstadt 98 won their friendly against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach convincingly, 7–2 (4–1).

Florian Kohfeldt: „We produced some nice passages of play, many of which had been planned during the week’s training. I didn’t like the two goals we conceded at all; the problem there lay with the back line. In attack, we had a lot of control, plenty of high-tempo moves, and good counter-pressing. All in all, it was at least okay—if not even a little better than that.“

The „Lilies“ took control of the game right from the start and took the lead following the match’s first corner kick. Kai Klefisch flicked the delivery on with his heel at the near post; amidst the ensuing scramble, Fynn Lakenmacher and Noah Weißhaupt both got touches on the ball, as did a Großaspach defender with the ball crossing the line.

The question of who scored was answered much more clearly just two minutes later. Ibrahim El Kadiri was initially denied by Maximilian Reule but then set up Lakenmacher, who scored to make it 2–0. Florian Kohfeldt’s team kept their foot on the gas. Hiroki Akiyama won the ball high up the pitch and played it to Lakenmacher, who could only be stopped by a foul inside the box. Lance Duijvestijn confidently converted the resulting penalty to make it 3–0.

Just two minutes later, the opposition got on the scoresheet as well, with Tim Rossmann finishing off a cross. However, the final goal before halftime belonged to the Lilies: after Akiyama and Duijvestijn won possession, Lakenmacher finished the Dutchman’s pass with an impressive strike.

After the break, it was again the Darmstadt side celebrating the first goal. Nicolas Verkooijen was on hand to score following a cross from Kleinhansl (54′). Both coaches made several changes thereafter, before Großaspach found the net for the second time in the 72nd minute, with Marlon Faß finishing off a counterattack.

Lars Kehl provided the best goal of the day in the 81st minute, hammering a free-kick from 18 metres out into the top left corner. Lakenmacher rounded off the scoring, tapping in a pass from Furukawa (85′).

Starting XI: Schuhen – Kleinhansl (Dettoni, 71′), Pfeiffer (Lührs, 61′), Weißhaupt ( Verkooijen, 46′), El Kadiri (Furukawa, 61′), Akiyama (Sickinger, 61′), Klefisch, Lakenmacher, Vukotic, Lannert, Duijvestijn (Kehl, 71′)

Goals: 1:0 Weißhaupt (5′), 2:0 Lakenmacher (7′), 3:0 Duijvestijn (36′ Pen), 3:1 Rossmann (38′), 4:1 Lakenmacher (45′), 5:1 Verkooijen (54′), 5:2 Faß (72′), 6:2 Kehl (81′), 7:2 Lakenmacher (85′)
