In Germany alone, someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest approximately every eight minutes – often in the midst of everyday life, while playing sports, or as a spectator in the stands. Medical emergencies also occur frequently in and around stadiums. In these moments, it is often the people present who must act first before the emergency services arrive. The crucial thing is to have the courage to act and to know what to do.
For this reason, and out of a sense of social responsibility, SV 98 is launching the „Stadium First Responders“ initiative. The goal is to empower people in the club’s community to provide quick, safe, and correct assistance in emergencies, starting January 17th at the Bölle stadium.
In the first of three planned phases, SV 98 is participating in the nationwide #Herzsicher (Heart Safe) initiative, a joint project of the Björn Steiger Foundation, the German Heart Foundation, and the German Football Association. Together, they are pursuing a clear objective: to equip as many people as possible with first aid and resuscitation skills.
