+++ "Here you can really flourish again" +++
Lilies. Depending on the variety, they bloom between May and September. The main flowering season is in July and August, according to plant experts. But enough about botany, let’s turn our attention to football. Because Noah Weißhaupt also wants to flourish. „Here you have a lot of peace and quiet. Here you can really blossom again,“ says the new signing for SV Darmstadt 98, explaining his reasons for moving to the Böllenfalltor stadium. Here in Darmstadt, he wants to make a fresh start, wants to flourish again, and show his full potential. „I know what I’m capable of. And I want to build on that,“ he emphasised further in a media briefing on Tuesday (July 7th).
+++ SVD plays away at VfR Fehlheim +++
For their second pre-season friendly, Florian Kohfeldt’s team will face VfR Fehlheim. Kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday (July 11th) at Sportpark Fehlheim, with gates opening at noon. +++ For only 1 Euro: Children's play day at Bölle +++
The first pre-season friendly at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor. It’s finally back to the Bölle this coming Tuesday evening (July 14th). That’s when Darmstadt 98 host FC 08 Homburg at 6pm. This friendly match day is all about the youngest Darmstadt fans. Children and teenagers under 18 can get into the stadium for just €1. Advance tickets are already on sale – both online and at the ticket office at the Bölle. Of course, there will also be a ticket booth open on Tuesday. All information about the children’s action day can be found here.
+++ Lilien Pop-Up Store at Luisenplatz +++
The heart of Darmstadt. That’s Luisenplatz. And right there, since last Friday (July 3rd) and for the next two weeks, is a pop-up store for SV Darmstadt 98. Here you can buy the Lilies‘ new home jersey – and also learn about the jersey’s history. The store is open Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 8pm.
+++ Donate blood, give hope! +++
In Germany, approximately 14,000 blood donations are needed daily to supply all patients. The German Red Cross blood donation services cover about 75 percent of the nationwide demand for life-saving blood products. However, since blood donations and the products derived from them have a limited shelf life, they rely on regular donors.
You too can make a difference and save up to three lives with a single blood donation. On Friday, July 31st, the German Red Cross team will be at the ENTEGA VIP Lounge in the main stand of the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor from 3pm to 8pm.
Important: Free online registration in advance is required. You can book an appointment and find further information about the blood donation appointment here.
+++ Together for Ingo: Help after serious workplace accident +++
SV 98 is supporting the fundraising appeal by SV Winterkasten and VfR Fehlheim for Ingo Dörsam, who is paralysed from the waist down after a tragic workplace accident. The campaign was initiated by SV Lörzenbach, SG Wald-Michelbach, and FC Fürth. „Football is more than just a game. Football means togetherness, friendship, and being there for each other – especially when it matters most,“ the Odenwald teams wrote.
At the „Scheeserenne in Winterkasten“ (July 10th-12th), a signed SV 98 jersey will be raffled off, among other things. There will also be a fundraising event at SV 98’s friendly match in Fehlheim (July 11th). Online-Link is ready for you.
+++ All the best, Alex! +++
Alexander Brunst celebrated his 31st birthday on Tuesday (July 7th). The native of northern Germany has been part of the Lilies‘ goalkeeping team since July 2022. During the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, the goalkeeper made three appearances for SV Darmstadt 98.
+++ Long live Fabi! +++
Captain. Bundesliga record holder. Club legend. A Lily for twelve years. Many terms describe Fabian Holland, who celebrates his 36th birthday on Saturday (July 11). Just a few months ago, his extraordinary twelve-year tenure at SV Darmstadt 98 came to an end. On the final matchday, the long-serving leader was given a rousing send-off at the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor.
With 67 Bundesliga appearances for the Lilies, Holland still holds the club record for SV 98. In total, he played 316 competitive matches for SV 98, captained the team for many years, and celebrated two Bundesliga promotions with the Lilies. Holland himself made it clear at his farewell that the connection between him and the Lilies will continue even after his playing career has ended.
I will definitely come here more often. You'll certainly see me on the south side at some point.
+++ Happy Birthday, Rüdiger! +++
On Friday (July 10th), Rüdiger Fritsch celebrates his 65th birthday. The Lilies (SV Darmstadt 98) extend their warmest congratulations to their former president and long-time board member and wish him all the best.
Fritsch shaped SV Darmstadt 98 like few other figures during his 17 years on the board, 13 of them as president. His tenure encompassed some of the most significant chapters in the club’s recent history: from successfully overcoming an existential crisis to the sporting ascent from the 3rd division to the Bundesliga, to financial consolidation and the comprehensive modernisation of the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor.
Under his leadership, the club continued to develop sustainably – on the pitch, structurally, and financially. Even though Fritsch is no longer part of the board, his contributions to SV Darmstadt 98 remain unforgettable. He has always cherished the Lilies‘ sporting successes. He once described the 2015 Bundesliga promotion with the words:
This was the continuation of an incredibly intense and successful story. A sensational moment! Back in the Bundesliga after three decades! Another one of those moments where you almost looked for a hidden camera.
