SV 98 welcomes back a familiar face as they begin their preparations for the second half of the season. Matthias Neumann will now serve as head of the professional players department. The 34-year-old previously worked for the Lilies for a total of eight years, from 2017 to 2025, before taking up a position as head of the professional players department at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in June 2025.

To be honest, I didn’t expect to be working for the Lilies again so soon this summer, but after initial contact and the first discussions, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to seize this opportunity. My connection to Darmstadt has never been broken; I’ve known many of the staff and players for several years, so I won’t need any time to settle in.“
Neumann has already started work and is also accompanying the team to the training camp in El Saler.

A bitter end in Karlsruhe: After 90 entertaining minutes in which both teams sought salvation in attack, Darmstadt suffered a narrow defeat. The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. After the match, the players were particularly frustrated with the missed opportunities in the first half.
The away form continues to be poor: SV 98 suffered a 2-1 (0-0) defeat against Karlsruher SC. Lidberg scored the equaliser for the team from southern Hesse in the 70th minute.
