Spread across two floors, the young players will now have access to a total of seven changing rooms, including showers and restrooms. The building also houses new administrative offices, meeting rooms, and other facilities for the staff of the youth academy.

With its completion, SV 98 is creating modern facilities for the daily operations of the Merck Youth Academy, both in terms of athletic development and organisational processes. Plans are in place to install a photovoltaic system on the building in the coming months.

President Markus Pfitzner stated: “The completion of the new building is an important step for the further development of our youth program. We want to offer young players at SV 98 state-of-the-art facilities while simultaneously creating an environment where our coaches and staff have the best possible conditions for their daily work.”

The total cost of the project amounts to approximately €1.75 million net. SV 98 was able to apply for various grants to finance the project. The City of Darmstadt is contributing €609,000, and the State of Hesse is providing an additional €200,000. The Hessian State Sports Federation is also contributing €19,500. SV 98 is covering the remaining costs through a combination of its own funds and external financing.

Pfitzner: “We extend our sincere thanks to the City of Darmstadt, the State of Hesse, and the Hessian State Sports Federation for their support of this project. Together, we have succeeded in further improving the infrastructure for successful youth development at Kastanienallee.”
