+++ ‚Only love for you!‘ | Against Elversberg in the members‘ jersey +++
The news that Fabian Holland will no longer play for Darmstadt at the end of this season affected everyone at the club. We take a look at it. Also exciting this week: The U17s host Eintracht Frankfurt's youth team in Pfungstadt today, Wednesday (April 22nd/5pm) for the Hessian derby in the Hesse Cup; the Darmstadt first team will wear members' jerseys against SV Elversberg next Saturday (April 25th/8:30pm); and the Darmstadt VIP box has been temporarily converted into a yoga camp. "Darmstadt Across the Board" on Wednesday is available here.
+++ The end of a Lily era +++
The Lily. Fabian Holland will carry it in his heart his entire life. But after this season, the era of the promotion hero of 2015 and 2023 at the Böllenfalltor stadium comes to an end. Holland shared this news on social media in an emotional farewell video. A video that many current and former teammates also used to pay tribute to the SV 98 club legend. „Incredible!!! 12 years!!! What an amazing time we both had together at the Lilies. Only love for you and all the best for your future,“ wrote honorary captain Aytac Sulu on Instagram. „Forever a legend,“ emphasised Tobias Kempe. And Sandro Sirigu addressed Holland with the following words: „Phew. I don’t know what to write. I’m just grateful to have stood by your side on the pitch. All the best to you and your family, Capitano!“
Marcel Schuhen was particularly emotional in his post. „What can I say…,“ the current Darmstadt captain wrote in his Instagram story. He continued: „The player who welcomed me immediately. My roommate. My friend. The one who showed me what it means to be a Darmstadt fan. Fight, commitment, and will. Every single game. THANK YOU for being there. Thank you for the values you passed on to so many players and people. I will miss you.“

+++ In Pfungstadt: U17 hosts Eintracht Frankfurt for the cup derby +++
Hesse Cup. Round of 16. Derby time. The SV Darmstadt 98 U17 team faces a hopefully exciting derby match against Eintracht Frankfurt this Wednesday evening (April 22nd, 5pm). The young Lilies are hoping to advance to the quarterfinals in Pfungstadt. We wish you the best of luck!
The U17 team gained a significant confidence boost for the cup tie last weekend: With a 3-2 victory against 1860 Munich, the SV Darmstadt 98 U17 team defeated the league leaders in the DFB Youth League for the second time in a row! The U17s found themselves trailing 2-0 in the first half, but managed to mount a comeback in the second half. The long-awaited equaliser came in the 77th minute, before the jubilant winning goal for the young Lilies was scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
The league match next weekend is an away game against SpVgg Unterhaching. Kick-off is at 11 a.m. on Sunday (April 26th).
+++ Hesse Cup: U19 team plays away at Hessen Kassel +++
A Hessian derby awaits the U19s! After a 2-1 defeat for SV Darmstadt 98’s U19 team against FSV Frankfurt in the DFB Youth League last Sunday (April 19th), the focus is already on the next match. This Wednesday evening (April 22, 7pm), the young Lilies face Hessen Kassel in the Hessian Cup. The away game in Kassel is for a place in the semifinals of the A-Junior Hessian Cup!
Then, on Sunday (April 26, 2pm), they continue their league campaign against Viktoria Köln. At home in the Lilies‘ youth academy this weekend, they can collect important points in the DFB Youth League against Viktoria.
+++ Youth academy renovation has begun +++
The bulldozers are rolling on Kastanienallee! Dismantling of the container complex has begun at the Merck youth performance centre. Demolition work will take place in the coming days, after which construction of the new functional building will commence.
+++ Yoga in the Lily Lodge +++
The morning sun bathed the Lilies‘ box in warm light last Friday morning (April 17th) as business partners of SV Darmstadt 98 gradually arrived and found their places on the prepared yoga mats. Led by two yoga instructors, various yoga exercises were practiced from 9am to 10am. Breathing exercises, yoga postures, and a body scan provided even beginners with the opportunity for a balanced start to the day. After this foray into the world of yoga, the morning concluded with breakfast and conversation for the 25 participants, who continued to enjoy the sunshine.
+++ SAFC wins late battle +++
The top match of the USL Championship lived up to its billing. It was a back-and-forth, open exchange between El Paso Locomotive FC (2nd place) and San Antonio FC (3rd place) last Sunday (April 19th). Alex Crognale gave SAFC a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute with a stunning shot from behind the centre circle, approximately 60 metres out. San Antonio even extended their lead to 2-0 just before halftime (43rd minute). But even closer to the break, El Paso pulled one back in first-half stoppage time. It was clear that the league’s best offence wouldn’t give up. And so El Paso came out of the locker room with plenty of energy – energy that Roberto Avila converted into an unstoppable rocket to equalise (52nd minute).
Chances continued to come for both sides. Goalkeeper Joseph Batrouni made several saves for the SV Darmstadt 98 affiliate club – including one in the 90th minute. Less than 60 seconds passed between the save and a long ball finding its way to SAFC forward Cristian Parano. And the striker hammered the ball into the net for the 3-2 game-winning goal. This marked San Antonio’s first away win of the season.
SAFC is currently tied on points with the league leaders, but sits in second place due to goal difference. SAFC’s next game is on May 3rd, when they host the Colorado Springs Switchbacks and aim to defend their position in the USL Championship standings.
+++ "Second Second Team" under floodlights +++
Last weekend, the football boots stayed in their bags. But the SV Darmstadt 98 fan team is back in action this Wednesday (April 22nd, 7:30pm). In their ongoing battle to avoid relegation from the Kreisliga (district league), they travel to Pfungstadt to face Kamerun Darmstadt’s second team. A win against their direct rivals in the standings (SV Darmstadt = 13th / Kamerun Darmstadt = 14th) would give the second team a cushion above the relegation zone. They then face another challenge on Sunday (April 26th, 3pm) away at RSV Germania Pfungstadt. Good luck, lads!
