Successful test in Fehlheim
SV Darmstadt 98 successfully completed their second pre-season friendly, defeating Verbandsliga side VfR Fehlheim 8-0 (4-0).
Lakenmacher opens, Schlosser brings it to a close
The hosts started aggressively and registered the first shot of the match in the seventh minute, but failed to convert it into a goal. Fynn Lakenmacher did better about 60 seconds later, putting Darmstadt 98 ahead 1-0. The striker opened the scoring for his team in the opening quarter of an hour: Ibrahim El Kadiri curled a beautiful shot into the top corner (11th minute), and Matthias Bader added a second from 14 metres (12th minute).
As expected, Darmstadt 98 enjoyed plenty of possession and created further chances, but it wasn’t until the 38th minute that Manolo Merx, assisted by Lance Duijvestijn, made it 4-0. Just before the halftime whistle, Alexander Brunst made a superb save to deny Paul Hebel a goal.
At halftime, Florian Kohfeldt made nine substitutions, and it took a while before the revamped Darmstadt side could add to their tally. Yosuke Furukawa was fouled in the penalty area, and Lars Kehl confidently converted the resulting penalty (58′). In the 76th minute, Matej Maglica found himself unmarked and headed home the sixth goal of the afternoon. Six minutes later, the tall centre-back again used his aerial dominance to head home for 7-0.
U21 player Mika Schlosser was responsible for the eighth goal, which also sealed the final score, finishing calmly in the 84th minute.
