A native of Frankfurt, he played for Eintracht Frankfurt during his youth and successfully made the leap to the professional level there. He spent the longest period of his professional career playing for 1. FC Heidenheim; he also wore the jerseys of SV Wehen Wiesbaden and VfR Mannheim.
