U21 team loses 4 – 1 in Pohlheim

The SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team had another away game this weekend. In difficult conditions, the young Lilies faced FC Turabdin-Babylon Pohlheim. Coach Daniel Petrowsky's team displayed a committed and attractive performance for much of the game, but failed to capitalise on their chances and made too many simple defensive errors. In the end, Darmstadt suffered a clear 4-1 defeat.

Annoying beginning

The opening phase proved to be a mixed bag for SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team. The hosts got off to a flying start, taking the lead in just the second minute. „That was obviously a bad starting position for us,“ lamented U21 coach Daniel Petrowsky to sv98.de.

Nevertheless, the team refused to be discouraged and gradually found their footing in the game. Smail Kadrijaj quickly equalised from a corner in the twelfth minute. Darmstadt battled hard and, in particular, won more and more second balls. But shortly before halftime came another blow: in the 38th minute, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Albano Emanuel Sidon converted the spot kick for the home side, making it 2-1 at the break.

All in at the expense of the defence

After the restart, U21 coach Petrowsky brought fresh attacking impetus into the game during the second half. He made three substitutions in the 65th minute, replacing Aziz Alagi, Mika Schlosser, and Luis Klappich with Kelvin Kunstmann, Loann Schnerring, and Imad Jaadar. However, the fresh reinforcements and the resulting attacking pressure left the Darmstadt 98 defence shaky. Takanori Yokochi sealed the victory for FC Turabdin-Babylon with goals in the 67th and 87th minutes.

Despite the defeat, SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team remains in seventh place in the table. However, the young Lilies have now gone seven games without a win. The Blue-Whites must now learn from this match, continue to work hard, and aim for a different result in their home game in Alsbach next Saturday (November 8th). There they will face second-placed FC Eddersheim. Kick-off is at 2:30pm.

We need to make sure we defend more consistently and avoid the simple mistakes that play into the opponent's hands.
