„Very positive impression of the team atmosphere“

Following the Lilien's successful friendly match on Saturday (July 25th), Florian Kohfeldt answered questions from the traveling media representatives.

…regarding the friendly match:

We had some good passages of play, many of which had been planned during the training week. I didn’t like the two goals we conceded at all; the problem there lies with the back line. That was poor. In attack, however, we had a lot of control, played with good pace, and executed our counter-pressing well. Given the time we’ve spent together so far, I am very satisfied with our attacking interplay. All in all, the friendly was at least okay—if not a little better than that.

about Fynn Lakenmacher:

At the start of the training camp, I told Fynn again that he could show at any moment that any potential new signing would first have to displace him. Today, he really made a statement—not just with his goals, but through his constant presence and the way he pressed the opposition. This is a logical progression from what he demonstrated in training, particularly over the past year. Now, I would warmly encourage him to back that up. He is great for the team in terms of character, and he certainly has the attributes to become a very good striker in this league.

...about Petretta and Bader:

Raoul’s knee hasn’t responded yet. I hope he can join team training—at least in a limited capacity—next week. As for Matze, his performance in the friendly matches he played gives us all hope that he’ll stay healthy. However, he keeps experiencing discomfort, and the cause isn’t entirely clear. That complicates matters. But we’ll do everything we can to get things back on track. It would be irresponsible to make a prediction, though.

…about growing together:

First of all, I want to commend the staff for what has been achieved over the last seven days and, indeed, the past four weeks. They have worked extremely well and remained focused, despite putting in days that ran from at least 8am to 10pm. The effort we have invested in this staff over the last two years is really paying off now. Furthermore, a strong sense of togetherness has developed. It was also important for the staff to grow closer to the players and for us to get to know the new players better, in particular.

We held one-on-one meetings with every player as well as team discussions, and I have a very positive impression of the team atmosphere. That is something you cannot simply command into existence. But, of course, it is also true that team cohesion becomes decisive when the pressure is on.

… regarding the conditions:

Many thanks to the Parkhotel for the excellent conditions. And the training pitch was truly outstanding.
