Transfer News: Lilies Loan Out Arnold
Tim Arnold will play in the Regionalliga West next season. SV 98 is loaning the 19-year-old to Sportfreunde Siegen. The fourth-division club also has an option to sign him permanently.
The "Bundesliga Talent Series" will launch in the 2026/27 season as an additional U21 competition to promote young talent in German professional football. SV 98 is one of 26 clubs from the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga that have committed to participating.
Paul Fernie: “We decided to participate in the Bundesliga Talent Series because the competition’s concept incorporates many elements that are crucial for targeted youth development. Crucially, it’s an additional U21 competition, so there’s no risk of it becoming an extension of academy football, as would have been possible with a purely U21 league. We see this competition as an opportunity to regularly provide young players with additional playing time at a high level. Kudos to the expert panel, who found excellent solutions to the many initial questions and developed a very flexible format.”
The “Bundesliga Talent Series” is designed as a voluntary, highly flexible add-on for clubs and complements the existing league system. Participating clubs draw on their existing squads in the transitional phase. Each team can also field up to four older players. This not only enables targeted development of young talent but also provides players returning to competitive play after injury breaks.
The games in the series will initially be played behind closed doors to minimise the organisational and financial burden on the participants. SV 98 is currently still in the process of selecting a venue for the „Bundesliga Talent Series“.
