“A unified team effort”

The first victory in 2025 has been bagged. The Lilies won their home game against FC Schalke 04 2-0. The protagonists were relieved about the three points and satisfied with their own performance, but at the same time hungry for more after the final whistle. We have summarised the voices for success.

Florian Kohfeldt:

„We put in a very good team performance today and landed a deserved win. In some phases of the game we were able to continue our usual teamwork. Fraser Hornby and Isac Lidberg in particular played an outstanding game together. We also managed to develop stability in many positions. I’m really pleased that those who come in are also developing well. We haven’t gotten over the phase of the last few weeks, which wasn’t easy – but it was only a win. But we got a win today, Because we always tried to find solutions together. Today was really a victory for a team – in cooperation with the Bölle. The boys can enjoy it today: go vote.

Kees van Wonderen:

„I congratulate the Lilies on their victory. I saw at Darmstadt more than at Schalke that they really wanted to win the game. That’s exactly what you need in this league every weekend. In this league there are no easy games and no points for free. You have to push yourself to the limit. We didn’t do enough of that today.“

Marcel Schuhen:

„A well-deserved victory and a great energy performance from us. The fans were sensational, it was exceptionally good. The first few minutes were fireworks and then we showed a very solid performance. This victory is of course good. We were aware of the importance of today’s game, you could see that today. Of course it also helps that we scored two goals straight from the first two chances. I said last week, despite the defeat, that we are on the right track. And I say the same thing today after the win.“

Isac Lidberg:

„We’re still not at the level we can play at. But we still put in a good performance today, a united team effort. We defended very well and got this important win. I didn’t think about the first leg before the game, I try to score against every opponent. I didn’t think twice about my goals, it worked well.“

Clemens Riedel:

„It’s obviously incredibly good when you’re 2-0 up after 5 minutes. That was a great start and of course it’s easier to play after that. I can’t single anyone out today, everyone played a great game. We were also stable defensively today and allowed very little, even though Schalke had a few corners. Big praise also to the fans, who created a great atmosphere before the game today. The only thing that annoys me a little is my yellow card, that’s annoying. But of course I’m happy that we managed to win today. Now we want to get something in Magdeburg too.“

Darmstadt's 2-1 defeat at Karlsruher SC also ended any remaining theoretical hopes the South Hessian club had of finishing the season in the top three. The loss at the Wildpark stadium served somewhat as a symbol for the past few weeks, during which SV 98 had only managed one point from five matches since the international break in March. Following the game on Sunday afternoon, the Darmstadt players addressed the assembled media representatives with mixed feelings.

A bitter end in Karlsruhe: After 90 entertaining minutes in which both teams sought salvation in attack, Darmstadt suffered a narrow defeat. The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. Opposition Check: Karlsruher SC

Left hook, 'One hundred and eightyyyyyyy', and hand over the baton. Doesn't sound like football – and that's true. KSC is often associated with professional football, but with the sheer number of titles the club has won, it's worth looking beyond the pitch. Titles from Baden-Württemberg to Rome.
