„An outstanding team performance“

An offensive fireworks display at the end of the year. With the 5-1 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the Lilies increased their points account to 24 points. The protagonists were happy with their performance and the implementation of their own match plan after the final whistle. We have summarised all the voices about the game for you.

Florian Kohfeldt:

„A very convincing win for my team. We actually need to lead even higher at half-time, but with a 5-1 win we shouldn’t look for too many ifs and buts. We put in an outstanding team performance and deservedly won the game. We’re very happy about that. We are very happy that we were able to give the fans a nice end to the year. We will now concentrate with all our energy on the coming week and Regensburg.“

Markus Anfang:

„Congratulations to Darmstadt on their deserved win. We played one of the worst games since I’ve been in Kaiserslautern. We didn’t show anything in the first half. We knew that Darmstadt made a lot of deep runs. Nevertheless, every ball over our defence was a 100% chance. It was a bad day for us. The performance in the first half is unacceptable. We would have lost against any team after the break, but then we got it the 3-0 and it ran its course. In the end the result was perhaps a bit high, but Darmstadt took advantage of the chances and you could see that they had top quality.“

Clemens Riedel:

„Overall it was a great performance, although we could have been more concentrated in some actions. Both offensively and defensively. We used the space behind the Kaiserslautern defence very well and often relied on our fast players to play deep. It worked really well. We have really good quality in the squad, Luca Marseiler came in from the cold today and played a great game, as did Killian and Fraser. The goal was annoying because we wanted to keep a clean sheet. But the three points are of course more important.“

Luca Marseiler:

„We had big plans. Of course, we’re happy to see that it works with a 5-1 win. The coaching team prepared us well again, everyone stuck to the plan, every player knows what they have to do. We would have liked to keep a clean sheet, but it was still a successful evening. The match plan worked very well, we always wanted to play the ball down the chain. Of course, I’m happy about that my first second division goal, but basically it doesn’t matter who scores for us. Now we’re going to Regensburg with courage and self-confidence and we want to win there too.“
