Together against blood cancer. Before our home game against 1. FC Köln (10.18/6:30pm) there will be a campaign in the Merck Stadium to search for possible stem cell donors. Merck enables the corresponding DKMS campaign and makes its match day stand behind the DKMS south stand available for this purpose. Registering as a donor is free of charge and is possible from 4:30pm until kick-off.
The registration is carried out very easily by a short swab with a cotton swab in the oral cavity. You should not eat or drink about 10 minutes before the smear test.
For everyone who doesn’t have a ticket for the game online registration is also possible here.
Blood cancer: race against time
Every 12 minutes in Germany a person is diagnosed with blood cancer, and worldwide every 27 seconds. Many patients cannot survive without a life-saving stem cell donation and the search for a suitable donor often begins a race against time.
Some patients find their genetic twin. But unfortunately there are also many who are still waiting for the right stem cells – and with it their chance to continue living. The faster a “match” is found, the greater the chance of survival!
Support the valuable work of DKMS and register as a potential stem cell donor.
