For the first time in eleven years, SV 98 will be traveling to Münster for an away game. Personnel update: Fabian Holland, Matthias Bader, Paul Will, Christoph Zimmermann, and Othmane El Idrissi are unavailable. Meldin Dreskovic has returned to training for parts of the team, but is not yet an option for the squad. Furthermore, we haven’t picked up enough points against teams from the lower regions of the table. In many of these games, we lacked the personnel to execute our goals. Against Münster, we have our ideas about how we will approach the game so that we can be successful. Given their current situation, Münster needs a win, which gives the game a special character.
I expect Münster to want to get into our penalty area very quickly and easily. They’ll be very aggressive and want to take the edge off us emotionally. We have to be ready to take the final step and be on the bus on Saturday evening with our safety in our bag.
Münster’s strengths are clearly their ability to deliver a lot of crosses and balls into the box. They have a very strong presence there, especially on second balls. But they also have very good players in one-on-one situations like Makridis and Mees. Münster is a team with a strong mentality that works hard on the run. I don’t expect them to want to sit deep in their stadium. Münster is definitely a team with tremendous mentality and emotionality. They certainly want to bring that to the pitch on Saturday.
Steve Kroll will definitely return to the bench, as Alex Brunst will be out due to injury. Steve has been a constant presence in our training this season. Our U21 goalkeeper Til Rohde is scheduled to continue gaining match practice with his team on Sunday. Steve’s experience will help us in the worst-case scenario if Marcel Schuhen gets injured.
