On Saturday (October 10th), newly promoted FC Energie Cottbus visits the Böllenfalltor. It is a special matchup, as we have never faced the team from Lusatia in our club's history. Nevertheless, there are some fascinating facts and figures to discover surrounding this first-ever meeting.
This match marks a first-time duel; the two teams have never faced each other in a competitive fixture. For coach Florian Kohfeldt, too, the game against Energie Cottbus presents a completely new opponent—he has never faced the Lusatian side at any previous stage of his coaching career. Even Cottbus coach Pele Wollitz has visited the Böllenfalltor only once in his own career.
For new Lilien signing Lars Kehl, however, the opponent is likely a familiar one. Last season, he faced Cottbus twice with his then-club, VfL Osnabrück. Kehl won both encounters with Osnabrück—fond memories he will surely be hoping to build upon this Saturday at the Böllenfalltor.
So far, the Lilien have conceded just five shots following counterattacks, placing them third in this category. The picture is different for Cottbus; only Braunschweig has conceded more goals from counterattacks than the team from Lusatia.
The statistics also highlight what sets the Lilies apart this season. SV Darmstadt 98 has proven particularly solid when defending set pieces so far, having not yet conceded a goal following a corner kick. In their build-up play, the team frequently relies on long balls, ranking among the sides that employ this tactic most often across the league. Conversely, opponents often resort to fouling the Lilies; no other team has been stopped in this manner more frequently to date.
FC Energie Cottbus has been the best newly promoted team of the season so far. They are unbeaten in their last three matches and currently sit in seventh place with eight points. Darmstadt will also face an above-average attack this Saturday; the team from Lusatia has scored a total of 14 goals in recent games, placing them above the league average.
When it comes to duels on Saturday, the Lilies have plenty to offer. The Darmstadt squad features Aleksandar Vukotic and Patric Pfeiffer—two of the second division’s strongest players in one-on-one challenges. However, a true specialist awaits on the Cottbus side as well: King Manu has won 72 percent of his duels so far this season, placing him among the league’s top performers in this category.

The annual department meeting of the SV Darmstadt 98 fan and supporter department took place on Monday evening (October 5th). In addition to providing an overview of the department's activities, the event aimed to offer an opportunity for exchange and active participation.
SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team proved their mettle in the Hessenliga on Saturday (Oct. 3rd) during their away match against SV Hünfeld. After taking a late 1–0 lead in the first half, the Young Lilies were virtually unstoppable. Ultimately, the team secured a 3–0 victory and brought home all three points.

The Lilies have just concluded a special week in Texas. For the first time in the club's history, SV Darmstadt 98 played a match on US soil; at the same time, the team and club management used their time in San Antonio for numerous sporting, business, and social engagements. During their stay in Texas, Volker Harr and Arnd Zinnhardt visited the Austin site of premium partner Focused Energy.
