New energy for the Young Lilies

SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team proved their mettle in the Hessenliga on Saturday (Oct. 3rd) during their away match against SV Hünfeld. After taking a late 1–0 lead in the first half, the Young Lilies were virtually unstoppable. Ultimately, the team secured a 3–0 victory and brought home all three points.

Goal just before the break

After three consecutive defeats, the Darmstadt side secured three points this time with a 3–0 victory.

Thanks to a goal from Henry Held in the 41st minute, Patrick Kurt’s team headed into the break feeling positive. The coach was also visibly pleased: „We executed the things we had discussed much better.“ This included winning individual duels, which prevented Hünfeld from posing a threat early on.

Strong second half

Shortly after the break, the Darmstadt side once again proved their mettle. Despite renewed pressure from their opponents, Yannick Stark managed to get his name on the scoresheet in the 55th minute. „The goal came at a perfect moment. After that, we didn’t let anything slip,“ reported Kurt. Following further chances to extend the lead, Diogo Dos Santos Pereira scored the match’s final goal in stoppage time (90+2 minutes), securing the victory and the three points. The coach was also thoroughly delighted with the performance: „The margin of victory was fully deserved. I saw a team for whom winning this match meant an incredible amount. We also had some great spells of play. Now the goal is to follow this up against Kassel on Sunday.“

League Standings and Outlook

Following this performance, the Young Lilies managed to climb out of 15th place and now sit in 9th, just behind Hünfelder SV.

On Sunday (October 11, 4pm), SV98 will host KSV Hessen Kassel II.

Line-Up: Ebert – Meier, Keranovic, Maier (Hartelt, 89′), Hofer (Volkmann, 78′), Held (Dos Santos Pereira, 71′), Fritz, Ballmert, Rauch (Makwaya, 87′), Stark, Pfister
