Lilies win in Walldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 won their fourth pre-season friendly. The Lilies defeated regional league side FC-Astoria Walldorf 4-1 (0-0) after 120 minutes.
It runs and runs for the U21 Lilies. Away at Steinbach-Haiger II (03.11/2pm), the Darmstadt team won 2-0 in the Lotto Hessenliga and can thus continue to stay away from the relegation places. The victory was synonymous with the fifth success in a row in Hesse's top division.
Despite the situation in the table, Darmstadt in 10th place and Steinbach-Haiger II in last place, the game was anything but easy for the Junglilien. Although SV 98 started the encounter well, they were unable to capitalise on three good chances in the first ten minutes, which is why it was initially a goalless game. In the 40th minute, the deserved opening goal came with a left-footed shot from Victor Grbic.
The Lilies continued to dominate the game in the second half, although there was a great danger that the hosts would find their way back into the game through a set piece. For a long time little happened on the Steinbach-Haiger sports grounds, until the 83rd minute: Georgios Makridis shot freely in the opponent’s penalty area and made it 2-0. “We played a very good away game and deserved to win 2-0. The fifth win was very important for us due to the tight table situation,” explained Lilien coach Daniel Petrowsky to sv98.de.
On Saturday (09.11/2:30pm) the next difficult task awaits the U21s. For the third away game in a row, the Petrowsky team leads to the sixth-placed team, Türk Gücü Friedberg. The game is played at Burgfeldstrasse 5a in Friedberg. Any support is welcome.
