Lilies win in Walldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 won their fourth pre-season friendly. The Lilies defeated regional league side FC-Astoria Walldorf 4-1 (0-0) after 120 minutes.
A literally tough away game for the young Lilies: The Darmstadt team had to play on a hard court in the Lotto Hessenliga against FSV Wolfhagen, who are in danger of relegation. In 16 degrees and bright sunshine, the U21s fought bravely on Sunday afternoon (9 March), but were unable to take anything home with them due to a 2 - 1 defeat and lost for the first time after three wins in a row.
The game got off to a poor start for SV 98: Darmstadt conceded a 1-0 goal in the first half with a deflected long-range shot in the 29th minute. However, the young Lilies showed their courage and fought back: Asaf Arania levelled from the penalty spot in stoppage time at the end of the half.
The young Lilies also got off to a poor start in the second half. Just six minutes after the restart, Lilies goalkeeper Til Rohde was forced to concede a second goal. SV Darmstadt 98, however, persisted and, under difficult conditions, tried everything to equalise again. Even a tactical change could not change the deficit, and Darmstadt lost 2-1 to FSV Wolfhagen.
We need to put this game behind us as quickly as possible. It was definitely an experience, but unfortunately, we weren't able to win it. These games happen, unfortunately.
Line-Up: Rohde – Arania – Pfister – Robotta (Klappich, 63) – Crößmann – Gegg – Grbic – Ballmert – Held – Zelic – Kuhlmann (Schlosser, 63).
