Lilies win in Walldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 won their fourth pre-season friendly. The Lilies defeated regional league side FC-Astoria Walldorf 4-1 (0-0) after 120 minutes.
After three away games and a recent bitter defeat, the U21 of SV Darmstadt 98 was able to win again in the home game against KSV Baunatal. In a hard-fought game, the Junglilien managed to take an early 1-0 lead from the first half. With these three points, the team distances itself further from the relegation zone of the Lotto Hessenliga.
On Sunday (17.11/2:30pm) the Darmstadt team welcomed the team from Baunatal. The game began with a period of pressure from the guests, who pushed the Lilies into their own half with good pressing. But the hosts were undeterred and gradually found their way into the game. A quick combination down the right side put Othmane El Idrissi in a good position. On 17 minutes, the winger played a good ball into the penalty area, where Georgios Makridis was lurking and sank the ball into the net to make it 1-0 – pure efficiency. With their first significant chance to score, the Junglilien took the lead and carried the lead into the half-time break.
Even after the break, the encounter remained exciting and balanced. Both teams met on equal terms. The key moment of the game came in the 50th minute: Jonas Springer from KSV saw a yellow-red card in the game. With the advantage, the Lilies had three great chances to score, but were unable to convert them successfully. So it remained an exciting fight until the final phase, in which the narrow lead was constantly in jeopardy. The KSV Baunatal pushed vehemently for the equaliser and came dangerously in front of the Darmstadt goal, especially through numerous standard situations. But the home team’s defense denied all of these opportunities.
Line-Up: Rohde – Arania (Mateo, 68) – Pfister – Robotta – Arnold – Grbic – Ballmert – Held (Görtler, 88) – Torsiello – El Idrissi (Basic, 80) – Makridis (Schlosser, 80)
In the end we are happy with the victory. That was an energetic performance from my team against a strong Baunatal team.
A note for all fans: The Junglilien’s next game will not take place on Sunday as usual, but next Saturday, November 23rd, at 2:30pm. The U21 meets 1. Hanauer FC away. The venue is the sports facility at Kastanienallee 75 in Hanau.
