Lilies win in Walldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 won their fourth pre-season friendly. The Lilies defeated regional league side FC-Astoria Walldorf 4-1 (0-0) after 120 minutes.
Do they ever lose? No, apparently not. The winning streak of SV Darmstadt 98's U21s continues. The Junglilien were also able to record success in the third game after the winter break and thus collect nine out of nine possible points in the new year. With a 3-0 win on Wednesday evening (February 26th) at home against FC Eddersheim, the team is currently in third place in the Lotto Hessen League.
At the request of FC Eddersheim, the Junglilien game was brought forward to Wednesday evening. The referee, Patrick Haustein, kicked off the game at 7:30pm on the artificial turf pitch of the Darmstadt NLZ in Kastanienallee. While SV 98 repeatedly created chances, the guests came dangerously close to the goal, especially through corners. After 30 minutes, it was Viktor Grbic with a beautiful left-footed shot from 22 meters who sank the ball into the far corner (1-0). Little happened on the field until the break and the U21s led 1-0 at halftime.
The second half started similarly. Once again the game was evenly balanced and there was no clear better team. The turnaround brought a red card for FC Eddersheim in the 71st minute. The Junglilien repeatedly made good use of their superiority by forcing Eddersheim to make mistakes. After a well-executed counterattack, it was Samir Gegg who shot the ball over the line in the 81st minute, giving SV Darmstadt 98 a 2-0 lead. In the second minute of stoppage time, the Darmstadt team countered again: In the end it was Mika Schlosser who made the home win perfect with his goal to make it 3-0.
With the three wins after the winter break, it's a very good start for us - and against good teams. We can be very happy with that and we hope that we can build on that in the next games.
