At some home games at the Bölle we see that away fans are also outside the away block – especially in the north stand. As in practically all other stadiums, the wearing of fan paraphernalia by guests is only prohibited in the advertised home blocks. The Darmstadt stadium regulations prohibit this in the entire area of the back straight and the south stand. As a side note, the DFL regulations also require a double-digit number of guest tickets in the main stand, which are located in W2.
The guest block at the Bölle is relatively small, so that the demand from the guests often exceeds the supply at the visiting club. Knowing this, many away fans make a concerted effort to get tickets for the game they want, follow the various sales phases closely and are usually logged into the online ticket shop in time for the start of free sales. In contrast, we have observed that home fans tend to buy their day tickets “when the opportunity arises” and therefore rarely try to get tickets on time specifically with a focus on a game. This means that the visiting fan is often ahead in the event of free advance booking and buys the seat before the Lily fan thinks about it.
So our common main goal is: Let everyone out there know that day tickets for SV 98 are available! Inform those around you that the pre-sale dates are always communicated on the SVD’s social media channels and website! Go on to say that if you attend to the stadium on time, you will be able to attend the stadium in the absolute majority of games!
Advance sales usually start around four to eight weeks before a home game, initially with a phase for club members. We have already limited the free sales that usually follow for some games identified as a risk to only be bought at the Bölle. However, we do not want to do this on a regular basis in order not to make it unnecessarily difficult for fans from the Darmstadt area to purchase tickets. The tool of not offering free sales at all has already been used in exceptional cases, but of course should not be the rule.
Of course, it would be very welcome if you decide to become a member yourself and sign up a sales phase earlier. We cannot and do not want to prohibit any member from getting 1-2 tickets for a neighbor or colleague who is a fan of another club. But you should be aware that just 0.5% of stadium visitors doing this is enough to create a noticeable “unofficial guest block” in the north. The security service intervenes in such a way that away fans who act provocatively can also be brought into the actual guest sector – but the capacity for this is of course very limited.
So help us and bring this information into the conversation. Let’s work together to keep our day cards within our own ranks and colour the Bölle blue and white!
