Matchday Compact: All Information for the Elversberg Game

Off to the second home game after the winter break! On Saturday afternoon (08.02./1pm) the ball will roll again in the Merck Stadium at the Böllenfalltor when SV Darmstadt 98 meets SV Elversberg. Both teams are eager to get their first three-pointer of the new year. As always, you can find out who is commenting on the game on TV, which referee team will be in charge of the game and lots of other exciting information about this duel in “Matchday Compact”!

Game day quote:

Both teams want to play forward in every situation, but this hasn't always worked for both of them in the last few weeks. Elversberg is one of the teams that perhaps plays the gaps most consistently and wants to play from the back to the front most consistently. The SVE is a team that wants to get the ball back quickly. I therefore expect an open game. As a fan, I would have high hopes of seeing an attractive game on Saturday.

Florian Kohfeldt, Head Coach of SV Darmstadt 98

Opposition View:

Horst Steffen, head coach of SV Elversberg, before the duel: “Darmstadt now has a very mature demeanor. They have a basic structure, but how the players position themselves in the offensive game is always variable – we have to be very careful here. It will be another 50:50 duel on Saturday in which we would like to take the lead again and then defend it until the end.”

The Officials:

  • Referee: Lukas Benen
  • Assistants: Luca Jürgensen and Stefan Zielsdorf
  • Fourth Official: Tobias Fritsch
  • VAR: Frank Willenborg and Arne Aarnink

Weather Forecast:

Around 5 degrees are expected for the game against SV Elversberg. The chance of precipitation during the game is zero percent.

Darmstadt's 2-1 defeat at Karlsruher SC also ended any remaining theoretical hopes the South Hessian club had of finishing the season in the top three. The loss at the Wildpark stadium served somewhat as a symbol for the past few weeks, during which SV 98 had only managed one point from five matches since the international break in March. Following the game on Sunday afternoon, the Darmstadt players addressed the assembled media representatives with mixed feelings.

Left hook, 'One hundred and eightyyyyyyy', and hand over the baton. Doesn't sound like football – and that's true. KSC is often associated with professional football, but with the sheer number of titles the club has won, it's worth looking beyond the pitch. Titles from Baden-Württemberg to Rome.
