Game day quote

On paper we are the favourites. But we were already like that against Münster and Ulm. That's why being a favourite doesn't mean anything. Much more important is the substantive engagement with the opponent, which requires respect. We assume that we will have a difficult place. Our game requires a high level of concentration, especially on this surface. We want to win the game and definitely want to end the year in a way that feels good to us.

Florian Kohfeldt, Coach of SV Darmstadt 98

The Opponents View:

Andreas Patz, head coach of SSV Jahn Regensburg, at the press conference before the duel with the Lilies: “For me, Darmstadt is the team of the hour in the second division. They have the best attack and also scored five goals in some games. They played themselves into a bit of a frenzy and bring a lot of individual quality with them. Especially on offence, they have a lot of depth and a good line-up in the box, into which they repeatedly play balls. They have a good presence on the second balls and work well against the ball defensively from a good order.”

The Officials:

  • Referee: Tom Bauer
  • Assistants: Luca Schlosser and Felix Wagner
  • Fourth Official: Tobias Wittmann
  • VAR: Christian Dingert and Dr. Riem Hussein

The Weather:

Around 5 degrees are expected with overcast skies and windy weather in Regensburg. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Darmstadt's 2-1 defeat at Karlsruher SC also ended any remaining theoretical hopes the South Hessian club had of finishing the season in the top three. The loss at the Wildpark stadium served somewhat as a symbol for the past few weeks, during which SV 98 had only managed one point from five matches since the international break in March. Following the game on Sunday afternoon, the Darmstadt players addressed the assembled media representatives with mixed feelings.

The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. Opposition Check: Karlsruher SC

Left hook, 'One hundred and eightyyyyyyy', and hand over the baton. Doesn't sound like football – and that's true. KSC is often associated with professional football, but with the sheer number of titles the club has won, it's worth looking beyond the pitch. Titles from Baden-Württemberg to Rome.
