Richter trained in the youth teams of Bayern Munich and FC Augsburg, among others. At FCA, the 27-year-old made the leap into the professional team, for which the Friedberg native made 102 competitive appearances, 97 of them in the Bundesliga. Between August 2021 and August 2024, Richter appeared in 79 further top-flight matches for Hertha BSC and 1. FSV Mainz 05. Last season, the right-footer played on loan at Hamburger SV, appearing in 28 competitive matches.
The former junior international and Olympic athlete will wear the number 23 in Darmstadt.
The Bundesliga finalised the match schedules for matchdays three through six on Wednesday (July 15th): Darmstadt's home game against Hannover 96 on matchday three will take place on Sunday. This will be followed by their away game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday at 1pm.
