South Hesse rescue dog team visits the Merck Stadium
Last Monday (September 2nd), the South Hesse rescue dog team was a guest at SV 98 and completed intensive training for search and rescue operations.
Thanks to the extensive stands and stairs, the Merck Stadium offers optimal conditions for practicing realistic scenarios in which the dogs can demonstrate their skills in confusing and challenging environments. The focus of the training was mantrailing, in which the dogs use a scent carrier to specifically search for a specific person. Volunteers hid in different areas of the stands so the dogs could track them down in the sectors.
Such exercises help to prepare the rescue dogs for emergencies. It’s nice that we were able to support this important work with our stadium.
