The Lilies started off energetically, having two promising opportunities to score in the first five minutes. The game then became rather rough due to some overly aggressive English play for a friendly match. After 14 minutes, the focus was once again on sport – and how: Maglica headed a chip from midfield to Hornby, who unceremoniously fired the ball into the net from around ten metres. Another Lakenmacher goal was ruled out for offside (19th minute). Shortly after, Hornby celebrated again after a pass from Corredor (20th minute). The Lilies kept up the pressure and created further opportunities until halftime, but without significantly increasing the score.
A few minutes after the restart, Furukawa’s low shot went just wide of the post. As a result, Darmstadt’s dominance ebbed somewhat. Defensively, however, they continued to stifle all of England’s attacking efforts. The result: a game that was played out mainly in midfield. Around the 70th minute, the visitors gained an upper hand in possession for the first time. But then the South Hesse team made no impact: a corner from Notts County resulted in a Darmstadt counter-attack. Lopez drove the ball almost the length of the pitch and played the ball through to Güler at the right moment. The striker, however, only hit the outside of the post. After some superb work from Furukawa, the opposing keeper parried a shot from Lidberg. Notts County then pulled one back, Grant netting to make it 2-1 (78′). Pfeiffer almost extended the score after 82 minutes, but his shot narrowly missed the target.

Three points! SV Darmstadt 98's U21 team secured a victory in the Lotto Hessenliga on Saturday afternoon (May 2nd). In their match against Hünfelder SV, the young Lilies overcame an early deficit to clinch a convincing 3-1 win. This result puts the U21 team currently outside the relegation zone. "Our trend is clearly upward," said a delighted U21 coach Sebastian Schmitt.
The successful collaboration between the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (HBRS) and SV Darmstadt 98 will continue long-term: Both partners have extended their existing agreement to promote inclusive sports indefinitely. This sends a clear signal for the sustainable development of inclusion and disability sports in Hesse.
A bitter end in Karlsruhe: After 90 entertaining minutes in which both teams sought salvation in attack, Darmstadt suffered a narrow defeat. The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. After the match, the players were particularly frustrated with the missed opportunities in the first half.
The away form continues to be poor: SV 98 suffered a 2-1 (0-0) defeat against Karlsruher SC. Lidberg scored the equaliser for the team from southern Hesse in the 70th minute.
