The SV Darmstadt 98 board has applied for admission to the Regionalliga Südwest (Southwest Regional League) for the U21 team on time. The oldest youth team of the youth performance center (NLZ) was founded last summer with the goal of giving young players playing time in the senior division even earlier, thus easing the transition to the professional ranks. The team is comprised of the most talented players from the U17 and U19 levels, as well as transition players who were trained in the Lilies' NLZ. In the 30 games played so far this season, the average age of the Lilies' youngsters is 19.95 years. In their debut season, the Lilies' youngsters are currently fourth in the Hessenliga and within touching distance of the top spots.
Uwe Kuhl, appointed representative of the Executive Board for the NLZ: „First of all, we are pleased that our approach of giving our young players an earlier chance to prove themselves in men’s football is bearing fruit. We are positively surprised and, of course, very proud that the team is performing so convincingly in its first season. Our club goal with regard to the U21s is to develop the players – regardless of their league affiliation. However, it is, of course, fundamentally our aim to accompany and promote sporting successes and positive developments, along with the associated issues. This is one of the reasons why we, within the Executive Board, made the decision to submit an application.“
SV 98 is in internal discussions regarding all other related organisational issues. The club will comment on this in due course, depending on further sporting developments.

In their match against Hünfelder SV, the young Lilies overcame an early deficit to clinch a convincing 3-1 win. This result puts the U21 team currently outside the relegation zone. "Our trend is clearly upward," said a delighted U21 coach Sebastian Schmitt.
The successful collaboration between the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (HBRS) and SV Darmstadt 98 will continue long-term: Both partners have extended their existing agreement to promote inclusive sports indefinitely. This sends a clear signal for the sustainable development of inclusion and disability sports in Hesse.
A bitter end in Karlsruhe: After 90 entertaining minutes in which both teams sought salvation in attack, Darmstadt suffered a narrow defeat. The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. After the match, the players were particularly frustrated with the missed opportunities in the first half.
The away form continues to be poor: SV 98 suffered a 2-1 (0-0) defeat against Karlsruher SC. Lidberg scored the equaliser for the team from southern Hesse in the 70th minute.
