SV Darmstadt 98 clearly won their first preseason friendly. They defeated the top-flight club SV Traisa 24-0 (9-0). Fynn Lakenmacher was the top scorer, scoring five goals. Particularly pleasing for the Lilies was the comeback of Fabian Holland, who was able to wear the SV 98 jersey for the first time after more than 14 months out.
The boys gave it their all in both halves, despite the challenging conditions. We scored a lot of goals, didn't make any easy mistakes, and were able to showcase our skills in the region. No one was injured, so I'm happy with today.
The Lilies were hungry for goals from the start and led 7-0 after just 34 minutes. New signing Semih Güler opened the scoring early with a precise long-range shot (2′) and scored again in the 21st minute. Luca Marseiler also scored twice (12′, 30′). An own goal by the hosts (31′), Isac Lidberg (33′), and a goal by new Lily Leon Klassen (34′) added further goals for the South Hesse side. The Lilies remained effective just before halftime: Lidberg confidently converted a penalty to make it 8-0 in the 40th minute and then slotted home from a corner just before the break to make it 9-0 at halftime (45′).
After the break, Darmstadt, with a nearly completely revamped team, remained hungry for goals: Fynn Lakenmacher scored a spectacular diving header to make it 10 – 0 (52′) and added two more shortly after, before scoring again just a minute later (67′). Fraser Hornby (72′) and Kilian Corredor (74′, 78′) extended the lead. Within nine minutes, the Lilies extended their lead to 23-0. Youth player Tom Steineck (85′) and defender Matej Maglica (87′) were among those on the scoresheet. Killian Corredor rounded off the match with a 24-0 goal (90′).

The Bundesliga finalised the match schedules for matchdays three through six on Wednesday (July 15th): Darmstadt's home game against Hannover 96 on matchday three will take place on Sunday. This will be followed by their away game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday at 1pm. The home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Friday evening and the away game in Wolfsburg, also on Friday evening, have also been confirmed.
The Lilies can welcome another new arrival at the Böllenfalltor: Florian Kleinhansl will now wear the SV 98 jersey. The 25-year-old joins on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with 1. FC Kaiserslautern on June 30th.
