Lilies win in Walldorf
SV Darmstadt 98 won their fourth pre-season friendly. The Lilies defeated regional league side FC-Astoria Walldorf 4-1 (0-0) after 120 minutes.
The U21's Junglilien are finding their way better and better in the Lotto Hessenliga and achieved their second win in a row on Sunday (October 13th): While the Lilies won 4-0 at home against Hornau the weekend before last, the Darmstadt team celebrated this one too with a convincing 3-1 away win against Hanauer SC, who are significantly higher in the table, over the weekend.
From the first minute, the Darmstadt team got off to a good start against Hanauer SC in pleasant autumn temperatures. The Lilies repeatedly captured the ball in the center and showed a strong side in the game against the ball. Thanks to their quick possession, it was always Viktor Grbic and Fabio Torsiello who were able to create convincing transition moments. Finally, Grbic rewarded the Darmstadt team’s efforts with a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute of the game. Shortly before the half-time whistle, Hanau was able to equalise with a set piece.
A psychologically bad time? But the Junglilien appeared unimpressed after the break before conceding a goal shortly before the break. Once again they found their way into the encounter better. In the 62nd minute, Nico Baier made the score 2-1 for Darmstadt 98 after a cross pass from Grbic. From then on, Hanau tried everything to become dangerous again in front of the Lilies‘ goal. But the South Hessians were firmly on the defensive and after a counterattack, Mateo Zelic put the lid on it in the 90th minute – 3-1, which was also the final score.
With the win behind them, the U21s will continue next Sunday (October 20th/3pm) at home in Alsbach against SV Weidenhausen. The team would like to continue the run.
Line-Up: Walch – Arania – Donges – Robatta – Gegg – Grbic – Ballmert – Held Görtler, 88) – Torsiello – Baier (Basic, 80) – Makridis (Zelic, 73).
