The U21 young Lilies were victorious five games in a row in the Lotto Hessenliga. Now the series broke. Against a ripped-off Türk Gücü Friedberg, the Darmstadt team suffered their fourth defeat of the season on Saturday (09.11) after a 3-0 defeat, but were still able to take a lot of helpful lessons from the game for the future.
The game started very poorly for SV 98 II. The team showed a good team performance from the start, but went behind 1-0 very early on thanks to a set piece in the 7th minute, which was very annoying against such an experienced team from Friedberg. The Lilies still maintained control in the first half, but were unable to reward themselves and went into the locker room with a 0-1 deficit.
In the first 15 minutes after the restart, SV Darmstadt 98 got back into the game well and remained in control. Similar to the first half, the team was unable to capitalise on their superiority and push the ball over the goal line. Towards the end of the game, the Lilies threw everything into the balance again – without success. The hosts were able to take advantage of the opening space in Darmstadt’s defense and made it 3-0 with two late goals in the 88th minute and 90th minute.
We were very happy with our performance for long stretches of the game. Against such experienced teams, we still lack the cleverness to make such games even better. We can learn a lot from this game."
On Sunday (November 17th) the Junglilien have their next chance to score points again. After three away games in a row, the boys will play at home in Alsbach against KSV Baunatal at 2:30 p.m. The U21 players are happy about any support on this day.

In their match against Hünfelder SV, the young Lilies overcame an early deficit to clinch a convincing 3-1 win. This result puts the U21 team currently outside the relegation zone. "Our trend is clearly upward," said a delighted U21 coach Sebastian Schmitt.
The successful collaboration between the Hessian Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (HBRS) and SV Darmstadt 98 will continue long-term: Both partners have extended their existing agreement to promote inclusive sports indefinitely. This sends a clear signal for the sustainable development of inclusion and disability sports in Hesse.
A bitter end in Karlsruhe: After 90 entertaining minutes in which both teams sought salvation in attack, Darmstadt suffered a narrow defeat. The final score was 2-1 after a late goal from the home side, following Isac Lidberg's earlier equaliser. After the match, the players were particularly frustrated with the missed opportunities in the first half.
The away form continues to be poor: SV 98 suffered a 2-1 (0-0) defeat against Karlsruher SC. Lidberg scored the equaliser for the team from southern Hesse in the 70th minute.
Darmstadt 98 visit Karlsruher SC on matchday 32 (May 3rd, 1:30 PM). Florian Kohfeldt has made five changes to his starting lineup. Killian Corredor replaces the injured Fraser Hornby, Aleksandar Vukotic comes in for the suspended Patric Pfeiffer, and Fabian Holland starts in place of Matej Maglica, who is sidelined with an ankle injury. Merveille Papela and Niklas Schmidt also join the team, replacing Sergio Lopez and Yosuke Furukawa. In addition to Hornby, Pfeiffer, and Maglica, Darmstadt will also be without the injured Matthias Bader, Fabian Nürnberger, and Luca Marseiler.
