U21’s eagerly awaits the season finale

The SV Darmstadt 98 U21 team faces its final home game of the season in the LOTTO Hessenliga on Saturday (May 31st, 3pm). A hopefully exciting clash awaits the young Lilies against fourth-placed Türk Gücü Friedberg. A win could give the U21 team hope for a spot in the promotion round for the Regionalliga.

We want to mobilise all our strength in the last game to finish the season with a successful performance.

Daniel Petrowsky, coach of the U21's

SV Darmstadt 98’s U21 team can still hope to qualify for the promotion round to the Regionalliga in their first Hessenliga season. After a decisive 6-0 home victory against TSV Steinbach Haiger, the U21 team will host fourth-placed Türk Gücü Friedberg next Saturday. If the young Lilies still want to advance to the promotion round, they’ll have to do their homework and win this match. And also hope for a slip-up from their opponents.

Position Team Games Goal Difference Points
1. FSV Fernwald 35 +40 67
2. FC Bayern Alzenau 35 +36 64
3. RW Walldorf 35 +28 64
4. Türk Gücü Friedberg 35 +28 62
5. Eintracht Stadtallendorf 35 +18 60
6. U21 35 +32 59

This is how the Hessenliga table looks with one matchday left in the season. But why can the Junglilien still hope for the promotion round despite finishing sixth? This is because FSV Fernwald would forego promotion, and RW Walldorf and Eintracht Stadtallendorf have not applied for a Regionalliga license. However, the Darmstadt team would have to finish at least fourth in the final standings, as the regulations stipulate that promotion is no longer possible from fifth place onwards.

A home win against fourth-placed Türk Gücü Friedberg would see the U21s overtake Friedberg thanks to their better goal difference. At the same time, fifth-placed Eintracht Stadtallendorf cannot win away at FC Eddersheim. Only then would SVD be in fourth place in the table and thus in the promotion round. A lot of subjunctive. Therefore, the SV 98 U21s must first do their homework against Friedberg.

sv98.de wishes the U21 team good luck next Saturday!
